Because we believe God inhabits the praises of His people, we must reveal the message of the Gospel through music and be instruments of praise and facilitators of worship. Come join us as we make a joyful noise unto the Lord!
Family Community Church Music Department
Joyce M. Grant, Music Director (MusicDirector@fccfresno.com)
Music and its importance is indicated throughout the Word of God. It is mentioned in the Bible over 839 times! In II Chronicles 6, David appointed singers over the song service. Their job was so important that these singers didn't work any place else because they always had to be available to minister. Listed below are a few scriptures from the Word that admonish us to sing praises to the Lord:
Music was first mentioned in Genesis 4:21
Miriam and the other women sang and danced to praise found in Exodus 15:1-21
Make a joyful noise onto the Lord - Psalm 66:1-2
Singing - Psalm 68:4
Sing aloud - Psalm 81:1
Make a joyful noise unto the Rock! Jesus is the Rock! Psalm 95
As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone .speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Music Ministry Philosophy
We, the Music Ministry, have been called to reveal the message of the Gospel through music. God does inhabit the praises of his people and our lips and life-style should honor Christ Jesus. We present ourselves before God, His Church, as well as those who have not yet made a profession of faith in Jesus Christ, as instruments of praise and facilitators of worship. We, hereby, believe that as ministers of music, we are to be consecrated, dedicated, devoted, loyal, and holy in order for God to fully use us to His glory. We will do all things according to the scriptures - decently and in order.
Our Mission
The mission of the Music Ministry is to allow God to use us to break the bonds of Satan, love the believer and the unbeliever, comfort the sick and wounded, and be instruments of obedience filled with music which falls in line with the Word of God. This mission, we believe, has been ordained by God and is to be fulfilled by those who have a spirit of submission, a willing heart to be an earthen vessel, a life-style pleasing to God, and a commitment to spreading the Gospel message through psalms, songs, and hymns. We, being obedient to the Holy Spirit, pray that our message through music will touch hearts and be life-changing to those who hear us.
Our Purpose
We, as ministers of music, are called by God to come before Him and this church body to seek Him, His anointing, His blessings, His inspiration, and His wisdom, to effectively minister to His people and proclaim the message of the "Good News" through music.
Objectives
• To facilitate worship
• To be a servant of God
• To serve His people
• To be set apart (consecrated) for ministry
• To be an accurate reflection of the nature of Christ
• To strive for excellence in all we do
• To be flexible
